Holocene

Dress: Mom's Closet
Cardigan: Forever 21
Floral Crown: DIY

These photos remind me of Bon Iver's Holocene music video; hence, the title.

Lately, I haven't been brushing my hair after I shower. No, this is not a cry for help. I realized that you get a really cool beach hair look if you just let your hair dry without brushing it. I recommend trying it if you're into Blake Lively type of hair, which I totally am. I also realized that I tend to ramble about random things on my blog, rather than write about fashion. Since this is a personal style+fashion blog, I resolve to remain more faithful to the purpose of this blog and try to talk about clothes and all that jazz more often.

So here it goes: I truly believe that you can never go wrong with a plain white dress because it's one of those timelessly fashionable pieces. No matter what era, you can don a white dress and look stylish. It looks especially great with tan skin, which makes it the perfect summer staple. I, personally, have a special place in my heart for the white dress, so I decided to wear this one from my mum's closet. Since I have maximalist tendencies, I couldn't resist throwing on this floral headpiece that I made. I just took some flower decorations from home and made it into a crown. It's a really simple and quick process, so if your home has any floral decorations lying around, you can totally make one too! This hair accessory really spruces up any outfit. You can wear it with a dress, skirt, shorts, pretty much anything, and it makes it look like you put more thought into your outfit than you actually did. Since it gets pretty chilly here in the evenings, I slipped into this awesome gray cardigan. I love oversized sweaters and cardigans. They provide a relaxed feel to any outfit. PLUS, they are just sooo comfortable

I had a lot of fun on this photo shoot with Jared. We've wanted to do a sunset shoot for a while, and finally the beach stopped getting all overcast and gloomy at dusk, so we hopped into our cars, drove to the beach, and snapped these sweet shots. I love the ocean at sunset. The waves glisten and sparkle as shades of orange flicker and dance atop white foam. As the sun sinks into the sea, the world is silent and magical. I always miss the beach the most when I'm at school. So much that I pathetically resort to watching YouTube videos of my hometown. Ya, I know. Sad. But I'm such a Cali girl at heart, so it's hard to be away from the sand and the waves for such a long time. Nothing beats diving into the ocean right before a wave crashes. Lounging in the sand after hours of swimming and rolling with the tide. Driving along the coast at dusk, watching the sky turn pink then red then orange then purple as light bounces across glass and rearview mirrors. A couple of weeks before I return to the other side of America and I am just not ready to leave.

xx
