Every time I'm back in California, my style turns more 'West Coast'. Perhaps it's a symptom of being a few miles from the beach, but it's seriously hard to resist shorts and sandals when the sun is high in the sky and the temperatures are in the upper 80s. This is exactly why I'm wearing a simple pair of overalls with a T-shirt in the above photos. 

Yesterday, my friends from school (hi Michelle, M Dai, Rafa, and Michael) surprised me with a visit. To capitalize on our 24 hours together, we drove down to La Jolla for the day. Since we planned to spend most of our time at the beach, I didn't want to wear a complicated outfit, which is why I chose to team my Nordstrom BP overalls (that I got from modeling for Teen Vogue/thanks Teen Vogue!) with a shirt that says WHATEVER (perf summer motto). To salute my 90s childhood, I decided to only buckle one strap because the one strap look was totes the cool thing to do back in the day, heh. My mum was very displeased and thought I looked like a hooligan, but WHATEVER. For shoes, I chose to go with some pink jelly sandals because jelly sandals are still in for da summa (woo 90s trends)! My jelly sandals ended up giving me blisters on my heels, so select your jelly sandals wisely folks. They can be hazardous to the back of your feet! 

Anyways, it was a dandy day full of snapping silly photos (we are #millennials after all), chasing crabs, and taking naps on rocks right next to the ocean. We ate dinner/grabbed drinks in the Gaslamp Quarter, which was full of quaint and adorable bars and restaurants and lovey dovey couples that made me wanna vomit. Just kidding, all the people on dates were disgustingly cute, but they also made me miss someone. After strolling around downtown SD, we struggled with parking, but finally found parking and ate sugary goodness at Extraordinary Desserts. If you live in San Diego and have never been to Extraordinary Desserts, what are you doing with your life?! I mean, look at those cakes and sweets. It's a heavenly experience. Just make sure to get a pot of tea as well. 

Before closing this blogpost, I just have to inform y'all that I made a super amazing discovery the other day. Well, I didn't make the super amazing discovery. ELLE magazine did. But I tested it out and confirmed the benefits of the discovery. All you girls that struggle with unfortunately short lashes (this includes moi), baby powder is the solution. After curling your lashes and applying mascara, use an eyeshadow brush to sprinkle baby powder onto your lashes and then put a few more coats of mascara on top of the baby powder. Doing so honestly makes your eyelashes look like falsies! I pinky swear with a cherry on top! Give it a go; you won't be disappointed.
