Hat: Forever 21
Top: Target
Skirt: eShakti
Loafers: Dresslink
When eShakti asked me to write a product review for them I got really excited because the site is filled with a plethora of darling clothes. I had a tough time choosing between the polka-dot midi skirt featured above and this buttoned poplin skirt. I ended up choosing the former because I don't own a polka-dot skirt and I've been fiending for a baby blue midi. Win-win all around.
If you struggle with clothing sizes, then eShakti is LITERALLY your girl because you can customize the clothes to fit your body type. And the process is really simple. All I had to do was scroll through a size chart to choose "2" for waist size and enter my height (5' 4''). Then I had the option to get rid of the pockets, but I ignored that because (duh) who doesn't want a skirt with pockets?
The skirt arrived a week later and the BEST part was the fact that I got a text message the day before it was scheduled to arrive. And let me just tell you, that is amazeball customer service. There have been tons of times when I've missed a package because I wasn't home. This always results in me driving to the post office, like that one time in London when River Island sent me a pair of heels & I missed the mailman so I had to take a 45 minute bus ride into a sketchy part of West London where I had to walk through really dark alleyways to get to the post office. I thought I was gonna get attacked by some hooded figure the whole time and ended up sprinting a lot because of it. Or, even worse, waiting another few days for the mailman to redeliver it. I hate waiting an extra couple of days for an eagerly anticipated package. Anyways, since this text message informed me of the impending delivery, I was prepared. Can we talk about how perfect that is? That's really freaking perfect. No more walking through dark scary alleyways to get to a random post office in the middle of nowhere.
When I got the skirt, I decided to style it a la Magic in the Moonlight. Those who know me know I'm obsessed with the 1920's, so it was a lot of fun dressing like Sophie from the film. Because the skirt itself is so playful, I chose to pair it with a simple white blouse. Then I plopped on my cloche hat for an extra '20s feel. And for shoes, I opted for my cat-dog loafers because I told you these are the only shoes I'm wearing for the next few months.
If you're digging the polka-dot midi from eShakti, you should check out more of their knick knacks here. You can get an extra 10% off if you use the coupon code "chameleonsoul7" from now to May 3rd. So #treatyoself
P.S. If you haven't seen Magic in the Moonlight, I definitely recommend it. It didn't get stellar reviews for some reason unbeknownst to me, but I think it's lovely. The film's directed by Woody Allen and it features gorgeous cinematography & beautiful clothes. I especially enjoyed the overarching message of the film which illuminated itself through the Nietzsche quote, “Please, don’t destroy people’s lies, their illusions, because if you destroy their illusions they will not be able to live at all; they will collapse.” This message really resonated with me because I think, sometimes, I need to blindly believe in things without questioning them so much. Even if it defies all rationality.
"We need our illusions to survive."
