Ashtrays & Heartbreaks

Top: Urban Outfitters
Velvet Pants: Urban Outfitters
Leather Jacket: Vintage
Boots: Forever 21

Well, it's officially finals week, so I thought I might as well create a what-to-wear-without-looking-derpy-and-zombiefied-during-finals-week post. I am by no means an authority on this subject because I, personally, tend to hide in sweatpants and an oversized T-shirt when stress and exams swallow me whole. BUT I do write the What to Wear column for CollegeFashionista, so I've done my fair share of what-to-wear-finals-week articles over the years. That being said, I think this ensemble is the perfect finals week look for those that want to avoid looking like a slob without losing precious study time. Why you ask?

1) It's comfortable. Yes, just as comfortable as sweatpants and a hoodie.

2) It literally takes less than a minute to slip into. Yes, I timed it. Just kidding, I didn't time it, but I did put it on and I'm pretty sure it only took me a few seconds to put on.

3) The loose fit of both the pants and the top allow for fast mobilization. This is imperative for those rushing to exams/the dining hall/that perfect spot in the library. Remember, it's survival of the fittest during these dark times, so you need to be ready to SPRINT! (I hope you caught the sarcasm in the previous sentence. I do not condone cutthroat behavior. But you can't be dillydallying to the library or your tests, so it's helpful to wear an outfit that won't prohibit you from fast walking or sprinting, if necessary.)

4) Velvet pants= chic, trendy sibling of sweatpants. They are just as cozy and snug, but look a million times better aka they won't make you look bloated and unfortunate.

So yeah, if you don't want to look like the victim of a wardrobe malfunction during finals week, pair velvet pants with a cropped tank top (or even an oversized T-shirt) for a no-hassle, study-friendly, and hip outfit! For an extra dash of sharpness, add a fitted jacket, like the leather jacket I'm wearing above.

Since my finals week is pretty chill, I can avoid looking like the Loch Ness Monster this year, which is a relief for everyone involved in my life, but especially my mom, haha. She absolutely HATES when I wear sweatpants. Hi mom! Anyways, due to the fact that I only have to study for one test, I've been able to watch movies as a well-deserved break after studying! This weekend, I watched a buncha rom coms and cried and ate a lot of chocolate and then felt gross and obese afterwards. Because I absolutely loved all the films I watched, I'm gonna place them here. If you have time this week, you should totally watch at least one of the films. Just make sure to have a tissue box next to you.

1) You've Got Mail because the love of your life could be the one you hate or the stranger next to you in the cafe.

"The odd thing about this form of communication is that you're more likely to talk about nothing than something. But I just want to say that all this nothing has meant more to me than so many somethings."

2) Sleepless in Seattle because distance and bad timing should never get in the way of true love.

"Well, it was a million tiny little things that, when you added them all up, they meant we were supposed to be together... and I knew it. I knew it the very first time I touched her. It was like coming home... only to no home I'd ever known... I was just taking her hand to help her out of a car and I knew. It was like... magic."

3) An Affair to Remember because sometimes falling in love involves giving up everything and taking a leap of faith.

"If you can paint I can walk- anything can happen, right?"

And since it's almost goodbye season, I'm just gonna say I suck at saying goodbye and I can't say goodbye to you, so I'm just gonna leave. I am gonna flee and deny the existence of these feelings in my ribcage because I'd rather play pretend than say goodbye.
