Gossamer

Top: Vintage
Culottes: H&M
Sandals: Target

Summer is here and MakeSpace (an on-demand storage service that picks up, stores and delivers your stuff !!!) recently asked me what I'm wearing and I chose, quite possibly, the worst outfit for the hottest season. In my defense, it's been unusually cold in LA, like, 50 (or maybe I'm hyperbolizing and it's actually been 60 but it feels like 50 so we're going with 50) degrees. And since anything below 70 is scarf and heavy jacket weather here in Southern California, I thought this was the perfect outfit for a gloomy and gray day. But as soon as I stepped outside and started trekking around Silver Lake, the sun came out and the temperatures rose. So yeah, I pretty much sweated up a salty rainstorm in my thick wool dress-that-I-turned-into-a-top-because-it's-a-little-on-the-short-side. My friends told me to just take off my pants, which I almost did, but then I realized I was carrying a tiny red velvet backpack and had no place to store them, so I just decided to boil away in the name of fashion. I felt like The Row in this look so it was worth it. Sorta.

Speaking of storing shiz, MakeSpace is definitely better than a tiny red velvet backpack. If you have a lot of clothes, like I do, MakeSpace can come and plop all your fall/winter clothes in a storage facility so you don't have to dig through heaps of sweaters and jackets to get to your summer dresses and shorts. This translates to more minutes of sleep in the mornings, which is always a victory. If you want to spend less time riffling through your closet and more time in bed, check out MakeSpace's self-storage locations here and click your way to a more seasonally-appropriate closet.

I Know You Don't Understand

Scarf: Vintage
Top: Thrift Shop
High-Waisted Shorts: Forever 21
Booties: Target
Sunnies: Ray-Ban

This outfit is a direct result of me reading too much Man Repeller except there is no such thing as reading too much Man Repeller because it is the bomb dot com. After a brief flirtation with minimalism, I realized that I can't do without a bit of quirk in my ensembles. So I've decided that my new, "adult" style will be French girl cool meets Leandra Medine's sartorial eccentricity. With the above look, I chose to create a simple but chic base by wearing a white button-down and high-waisted shorts, which I felt was tres French girl cool. Then, I added in a splash of Leandra's sartorial eccentricity with a technicolor neck scarf and leopard-print booties. My mum thought I looked like a flight attendant, which I can kinda see but whatever. I felt very "me" in this, which I haven't felt in a while. Cheers to that?

For music, Ronnie found a leaked version of Lana's new song, "High by the Beach", which I'm absolutely obsessed with. Been listening to it on repeat for the past hour. My favorite line is, "You can be a bad motherfucker, but that don't make you a man."

To listen, click here.

I swear, my emotional life is a Lana Del Rey song. The entire Born to Die album is like umm Lana are we the same person?

"Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough I don't know why."

Chameleon Soul x Bonobos

Suit Jacket: Vintage
Leather Joggers: Forever 21
Bandeau: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Nike
Glasses: DIY

Menswear in womenswear was quite the rage at the most recent New York Fashion Week. Iconic fashion names like Public School, Rag & Bone, and even J.Crew featured androgynous looks on the runway with models strutting around in masculine silhouettes and oversized outerwear. In celebration of all the cool girls wearing boy clothes, I snagged this vintage suit jacket from my dad's closet and teamed it with a bandeau (a la sports bra + blazer street style inspo), leather joggers (holla Kanye), and Nike running shoes (cuz sports shoes are still in for the season). I know I said that, as a former competitive athlete, I'd never wear running shoes in a non-running setting, but then I wrote an article on Nike Frees for work and fell for the trend. Because my ensemble still felt a bit bare, I plopped on my former 3D glasses that I popped the lenses out of. I usually hate how I look in glasses (which is why I never let people take photos of me when I'm having a glasses day), but these ones were so weird and worked with my outfit so I made an exception. That being said, this is probably the only and the last time you'll see me in glasses on my blog because I really do look super derpy in glasses and get all self-conscious in them.

If you're inspired by this blogpost and feel the urge to give menswear a go, Bonobos has a great selection of sharp suit jackets here. They recently emailed me about their upcoming Fall 2014 Men's Suit Collection, which features signature Italian wool suits, charming tweed blazers, and well-tailored tuxedos. The suits come in standard and slim fits, and short, regular, and tall sizes. If wearing men's suit jackets and blazers is too daring for you, then you should still take a peek anyways for the dudes in your life. Whether it be your dad, brother, or boyfriend, a man with style is always warmly welcomed, so Bonobos would be a great place to lurk for birthday or early Christmas presents. I mean, if television has taught me anything (cough cough Chuck Bass cough Barney Stinson), it's taught me that you can never go wrong in a high quality suit. So check out the Bonobos Men's Suit Collection. Now.

Very Best Friend

Boater Hat: Forever 21
Top: Vintage
Plaid Culottes: Vintage
Flats: Urban Outfitters
Watch: Vintage
Ring: Captain's Helm

Celebrated the 2nd annual dual birthday bash with Carrie and April today. (If you wanna see the 1st annual dual birthday bash click here.) Unfortunately, we were all extremely hangry so the only decently lit photos are the ones we took in front of Koon Thai Kitchen whilst waiting for our takeout. Once we got our food, we drove to Balboa Park, sat down on the nearest patch of grass, and devoured our respective meals before we could snap any Instagram faux-foodie photos. Sorry not sorry. I guess being hangry trumps everything? Anyways, the rest of the photos turned out grainy because it was dark by the time we finished eating so we had to snap all the photos with flash. I absolutely hate using flash so I made all the flash photos black and white to compensate.

I also had a horrible headache during all this and I wanted to ask randos for Tylenol, but Georges-Philippe told me no because apparently people put razors in dog treats and leave them in the park. Remember when people used to safely hitchhike across the US? How do we go back there?

Oh and New York Magazine senior art critic and columnist, Jerry Saltz, favorited and retweeted an article I wrote about him, which means my life has peaked at the age of 23. In a flurry of excitement and Millennialism, I listed this virtual event under the Honors & Awards section of my LinkedIn. But not before asking Saltz's permission via Twitter first. He promptly responded with, "Who the guck actually has any idea what LinkedIn even is!" Which I took to mean, "Yes, you can list our Twitter interaction under the Honors & Awards section of your LinkedIn." #holla
