Blank Space

Shoes: Nike
Socks: Miss Selfridge
Joggers: Forever 21
Jumper: Target

I haven't really had the time to snap #fashionblogger photos of my personal style, so here is a lovely photo of my feet. I've been wearing my Nike trainers, like, every day. It seems to be a v London fashion folk thing to do, and since I'm part of the crew now, I guess it's rubbed off on me. I dressed up my Nikes with frilly socks and thought it looked quirky-cute so I'll probs start sporting this combo more often. Then, I threw on a mustard yellow jumper and a fox-patterned button-down (not pictured) over denim joggers because #comfort.

This past week has been quite rainy (aka #London) so I've been holing up in coffeeshops and eating a lot of burgers (p sure burgers represent 90% of the foods I've eaten since I've been here; oops). So yeah, here are a buncha photos of coffee and junk food. Oh, and also some cool fashiony snaps as well cuz that's what I'm here for.

Nandos
I am obsessed with Nandos. This is not an exaggeration; I pretty much go to Nandos every week. It is my sunshine on a shit day. I mean, look at that chicken leg. How can anyone resist such a savory, mouth-watering, spice-filled piece of meat? Well, I guess vegetarians would say no, but I'm a carnivore so I definitely cannot say no to Nandos. You also can get two side combos with your meal, which is a rarity in London because you usually have to order sides separately aka if you order a burger, you have to order the fries separately because it doesn't come with fries; I know it's tragic. Anyways, I usually get the fries cuz #duh I'm obsessed with them and then a salad to balance out the obscene amount of junk food I consume. The mashed potatoes and the garlic bread (Ronnie's favorite) are also really good if you're not a fries or salad person.

Conde Nast x Karl Willett
I met celebrity stylist Karl Willett last week and ohmygoodness he is such an adorable delight! During his talk at Conde Nast, he told us an incredibly comical story involving Paloma Faith and CeeLo Green. Apparently CeeLo Green accidentally stepped on Paloma Faith's dress and ripped it whilst performing with her at the 2011 Brit Awards and Karl thought his life was over because he styled the dress for Paloma and the seamstress who created the dress started crying during the middle of the performance cuz she thought her life was over as well but after the performance both of them met up with Paloma and Paloma was like, "Why is she (the seamstress) crying?" and Karl was like, "Yeah I know I should be the one crying," and Paloma was like, "I don't care about the dress. How did I perform?" And then Karl decided that he wanted to work as her stylist forever and they have been a happy, cooly-clad duo ever since.

5 Inch and Up x River Island Launch Party
This was a fun fashion event featuring blogger Sandra Hagelstam of 5 inch and up. She designed some neat heels for River Island and I went to the launch party and got to try on the beautiful heels in real life and received a chic goodie bag for snapping a photo of my feet + posting it on Twitter. I also had the BEST mixed drink I've ever had in my life. I forgot what it was called but it was a mix of gin + cream soda + lime. SUCH a good concoction. I think it may trump the soul-haunting strawberry swirl margarita from Cheddar's!

Gourmet Burger Kitchen
The burgers at Gourmet Burger Kitchen are SO nomz. This one had avocado and melted cheese and bacon in it and, now that I'm staring at this photo and writing about it, I am feeling very nostalgic for this burger because it was so incredibly delicious and now my stomach yearns for it. You also get free peanuts and the ketchup is stored in a ridiculously cute tomato. You can see it in the above photo. Like it is so so adorable; I could squeeze ketchup out of that shit forever.

Big Ben Burger
Big Ben Burger is not the name of this restaurant. I am sorry to inform you that I do not remember the name of this restaurant because I ate here on the day I walked around aimlessly in the rain with my friend Mattimore. We literally just wandered around London with zero sense of direction and hopped on random buses so we had no idea where we were, which was actually quite exciting. I felt like I was in a scene from Midnight in Paris or something. Anyways, we ended up attending mass for 10 minutes and then walking into this bar/restaurant and I ordered the Big Ben Burger cuz I seem to have a habit of only eating burgers whilst I'm here in London. But I do not regret my choice because this burger was the BEST burger I've ever had. It had an egg and jalapenos in it and I had no idea eggs even worked with burgers but the combo is the bomb.com. I'm really sad I can't give y'all the name of this restaurant because this burger was AMAZING. Also, look at that presentation. A+ all around.

Store Street Espresso
This is my favorite coffeeshop in London. The space is so chill and I love the minimalist aesthetic and it's filled with a bunch of British hipster folk so I can lurk away to my heart's content. I definitely recommend checking Store Street Espresso out whilst you're in London. It's filled with good vibes and good tea (the mint tea was the coolest looking mint tea I've ever encountered).

ScooterCaffe
Umm, so ScooterCafe got rid of its delicious, cake-like white chocolate mocha and when I found out I immediately texted Ronnie to rant about the senseless loss and then I wept silently in my chair whilst the wifi refused to load and old school French jazz played softly in the background. Their white chocolate mocha was literally the best white chocolate mocha I've ever had in my entire life and now I will no longer be able to experience the joy of drinking it because it is gone forever. Literally, forever. I asked if they were gonna bring it back and they said no. Despite their nonsensical decision to get rid of the best coffee in the universe, I still consider ScooterCafe to be one of London's top coffeeshops. I love the retro space and the nostalgic music and the furry cats (yes they have real live cats in the cafe and they are very soft and amiable). My friend Bryan said it reminds him of an opium cave, but I totally dig the moody atmosphere filled with tiny glittering lights. A lot of hip British folk camp out here too, which means more fun style-lurking for me!

I'm closing with this photo because I recently listened to Taylor Swift's new album, 1989, and I've never been a fan or hater of T Swift, I've just been largely apathetic toward her, but then someone played 1989 at Conde Nast and I thought it was v catchy and cathartic. And then I watched her Blank Space music video and decided that I love the art direction. That one scene where she's sitting on a bed in a fancy night gown and stabbing a cake whilst mascara runs down her face is so edgy and whimsical. It would make such a great fashion photo. I'm imagining the still with a hazy, nostalgic filter and it's giving me some Juergen Teller vibes and I love his photography so yeah. You should check out the song and the mv here. I've probably listened to it 50 times by now.

"Cuz, darling, I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream."

xx
