“Ce n'รจ ancora, di strada”

Got back from Big Sur last night and I miss it so much I could cry. To deal with my post Sur blues, I’m photo-dumping these snaps from my phone and playing Bon Iver’s For Emma on repeat (the album that heals all heart wounds). A weak means of reliving the past couple of days. But I need this vicarious consumption.

Ah, what I would give to be back on the cliffs, listening to Holocene, with the deep blue Pacific to my left and endless green redwoods to my right. I want to trek dirt trails amidst rolling brooks and tall trees. I want to sleep under the stars and moon. I want to watch the sun set on Bixby Bridge. I want to picnic in Andrew Molera, kombucha in hand, whilst waves crash gently below my feet. I want to sit in the cool serenity of Henry Miller’s library. Eat at Nepenthe. Hang out the car’s rooftop window with the crisp sea air hitting me in the face and miles and miles and miles of beauty. There’s nothing better than that feeling.

O, Big Sur was like a dream I didn’t want to wake up from. But here I am, awake, and missing it like crazy.

(Stay tuned for film photos & more off the road nostalgia)

Vanilla Sky

Boater Hat: Forever 21
Choker: Clothes Show Live
Top: Urban Outfitters
Tutu Skirt: Dresslink
Loafers: Dresslink

There's something about frolicking through endless fields of grass that makes me feel like a kid again. Or maybe I just have a young soul. But twirling under the sky still hasn't lost its novelty on me. Anyways, I've wanted a pink tutu skirt since high school and Dresslink graciously fulfilled my teenage dream by sending me this darling skirt.

To add an edgy spin to the girly skirt, I teamed it with one of my cheeky graphic tees from Urban Outfitters. It gave off a Nylon-esque vibe, which I love because Nylon's one of my favorite magazines. Totally dig its style/aesthetic. For accessories, I went with my staple boater hat (which I wear far too much but whatever) and choker necklace. I haven't been much of a jewelry fan lately (mostly because I'm too lazy to deal with rings/bracelets/etc), but I finally found my estranged choker necklace last week whilst rummaging through my still unpacked suitcase from London (oops), which made me feel very #blessed and I've been wearing it ever since. For shoes, I went with these adorable loafers (one is a cat; the other is a dog!) that Dresslink also sent me. I'm absolutely obsessed with them. In fact, I plan on wearing these loafers every day for the next few months. Since they're monochromatic, they'll match with everything so it's meant to be.

For more whimsical clothes & accessories, check out Dresslink here. The items on the site are cheap and on trend. Here's the tutu skirt (only 5 bucks!) and here are the cat-dog loafers (4 dolla dolla bills y'all!).

Rivers & Roads

In Lana Del Rey's Ride she says, "My mother told me I had a chameleon soul...who belonged to no one, who belonged to everyone. Who had nothing, who wanted everything, with a fire for every experience and an obsession for freedom that terrified me to the point that I couldn't even talk about it, and pushed me to a nomadic point of madness that both dazzled and dizzied me."

Ever since I heard these words, they have stuck with me because I've always felt the most at 'home' on the road. Perhaps it's from a childhood of spending summers and breaks traveling around the US by car (I've been to 48 out of the 50 states). Some sort of conditioning brought about by frequency? Whatever it is, there's nothing that beats being out on the open road for me.

I love driving under the vast, empty sky where everything is beautiful and nothing hurts. It's where I feel free.
